WORK IN PROGRESS
This week, everyone will please post a paragraph or two indicating the state of their work on their project. If you are a member of a multi-person team, indicate where things stand with your part of the project (graphics, audio, programming, etc.)
How much remains to do between now and final deadline (May 20)? Do you have a hope in hell of finishing?
Be honest, now.

Yes I feel we do have a chance in a hell to finish this game. Well at least we will have something done in hell that we can present. We should actually have something that will be playable with a rating system and everything. Now I am the programmer, and so far I have the title screen up. I have the menu system up, and now I am actually working on the game play which may take a little time to work on. That is pretty much where I am at right now. So far I feel there is a chance in hell woooooo!!
ReplyDeleteI, as you know, am working by myself. I have managed to complete some of the first day's gameplay. In hell? Well, maybe. On Earth? We'll see. I think I can have a sufficient amount of gameplay to do a demonstration if need be. The game is coming along, though. So I think you will be pleasantly surprised by what I have created.
ReplyDeleteI share the art-load with Brian, but we all try to help out a little with the programming. We will definitely have something (awesome) to show. There are only a few more gameplay-ish programming and art bits to do before our game is 'complete.' The specific programming bits left are, sure, the hardest ones to do, but they are the details. The art is mostly done; only a few images remain.
ReplyDeleteI just heavily started working on it this past week, however, I've gotten quite a bit done so far. Right now, I've gotten a majority of the game screens done. Now, I'm in the process of creating the final graphics for the game. I've gotten two of the four characters completed. Once I get the other two done, I will be well on my way to finishing.
ReplyDeleteMy game doesn't exactly have levels so it is difficult for me to figure out where I need to go before I have completed the requirements. However, I will just complete as much as I possibly can with the time that I have left.
So, I think I can finish what I want to get done by the deadline. I have a little bit more time than I initially thought, so I'm not in bad shape.
I think I have most of the project done. All I really need to do is get Jack's stock graph working with what I have. That could take a good amount of time, but I should be able to get it done. Then all we need are graphics and everything should be done.
ReplyDeleteI am working on the music and sounds for the game called Slump Expunger. I already created to music themes for the project. Some sound effects have been posted to the Ning Site. We will all present this game with the sound in it. I do have a chance in hell of finishing the music and sounds because I will have all of the foley effects done and most of the music up on the menu screens.
ReplyDeleteAs far as I know, progress on UB Parkning Bonanza is going extremely well. I've been working on the city map and the map for the parking lot/garage. If it gets down to the wire, the maps could be submitted and they wouldn't look bad, but I fully plan on improving and finalizing them before our final presentation. Right now the city map could use a few more structures and the parking lot currently has no cars occupying it, but these issues can very easily be remedied and, likely, will be soon.
ReplyDeleteThere is a chance that the game will be complete (the way we had intended from the start), there is also a chance that some things will be left out for the presentation (though the project will most likely be improved upon after the semester). I am programming Slump Expunger and am going to run into the more programming intensive techniques in the days to come. My effort, along with the other two artists who know some programming, will probably finish the bulk of what we need to do and present a clean looking game with many functions we had planned to go in it. From here on out there is going to be much more time devoted to the project than previously before.
ReplyDeleteI think we've got a good chance, personally. The group we've gathered is very skilled, and baring any unforeseen circumstances (like the universe exploding or something) we should get done on time.
ReplyDeleteWhen we were working on it after last class, everything was coming along nicely. I'm using Illustrator to put some objects together, such as the in-game interface and a few in-game objects, and aside from Mike's odd enthusiasm for getting a title page up, I'm fairly comfortable with the work the team has put in.
Well I've been developing the presentation side of these now that developed assets were turned over to Jeff. Jack finalized a lot of the programming language as well. Jeff ended up busting out a majority of the piecing together this weekend so overall, I think we are in really great shape. We've got a few loose ends to tie up with some art but that's no big deal.
ReplyDeleteThe programming part of our project is almost complete. The car's movement in and out of the garage is fully working. All I need to add is a timer and randomizing the different scenarios. I should be able to get all the programming done by next Monday and then we'll start tweaking it.
ReplyDeleteIm pretty sure our project will be done before the deadline. With Lances flash and programming knowledge im sure we can get it done. Just think we need to path a few things up and we will be ok. No big deal.
ReplyDeleteAs John and Mike have previously mentioned things are really moving along with our project. I'm in charge of creating most of the text based content, and a few miscellaneous images for the game. For the most part, I'm working in Photoshop, and Word. While I still have more to do, I've been supplying Mike (who's programming) with temp images for everything. This allows everyone on the team to work on their parts, while Mike can still program. Later, we'll just swap in the final content.
ReplyDeleteAs of right now, I feel like there's a lot more to do, but we should be able to get it finished in time. We've done a pretty good job of laying out what we need. Now it's a matter of producing everything, and replacing the temp image holders.
Right now, I’m working on the artwork for the card game. The design of the back of the cards is finished but we might end up changing the name of the game. The name change is due to the fact that we are addressing issues other than euthanasia as well; it’s easier to come up with ideas for cards. Since we aren’t planning on releasing the game, I have taken some images from Google and placed them on the cards, editing some of them with Paint Shop Pro. Some of our favorite ideas for cards come from demotivational posters.
ReplyDeleteOur goal is to create rougly 100 different kinds of cards and make multiples of some of them. We may end up using the same images for more than one argument card to get different points across. One of our images is Michael Jacksons album cover of “Bad” with a picture of Beaver from Leave it to Beaver. The image could be appropriet for anti-abortion saying “What about adoption?” or “Some kids are better off not being born!”
I do believe we have a chance in hell of at least having something to show the day of our demo. As far as artwork is concerned we don't have a whole lot more to do. I am kind of unsure where we are gameplay wise, but from what I recently saw were coming along nicely.
ReplyDeleteI currently have all of the necessary artwork I need. What I am having a problem with is finding an exact match for some components within the demo systems. As a result I will more than likely use equivalent parts rather than the exact part. An example of what I mean would be finding the exact model of a DVD drive in a Dell computer, I will change to finding an equivalent drive with the same specs.
ReplyDeleteRight now Rob and I are in full-on production mode. The game mechanics have been more or less set, so right now Rob is handling the art assets, and I'm designing cards, writing all the on-card text, and writing an instruction booklet for our game. We will have a physical card deck made by the deadline. Whether or not the game will be fully playable, featured, and balanced is another issue entirely. I am, however, positive that we will adequately provide proof of concept.
